Conflicts and Negotiations in the Intergenerational Succession of Family Firms: A Literature Review.
2019
This chapter intends to stimulate a serious debate on the topic of conflict in family businesses and the theory of negotiation as a tool to resolve these conflicts. The methodology is based on the survey of the main literature on these topics. Despite the literature on conflict management is highly developed as well as the literature in family business, scholars and researchers have not yet deepened several areas of conflict management in family businesses, so the two fields of literature are yet not well integrated, showing a potential for future research avenues. We then propose a research agenda identifying the issues and research gaps that should be explored by researchers to reach a de…
Conflict management in the international context : analyzing the role of the United Nations in the Western Sahara conflict

The United Nations is the most productive international organization in resolving international world conflicts. This study specifically focuses on the UN’s role in resolving intercultural conflict in Western Sahara and the concrete steps it has taken, such as implementation of the cease-fire, the Settlement Plan and establishing the Mission for an independence referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). Conflict management in massive polylogues: A case study from YouTube
2014
Abstract The aim of this paper is to examine how conflict begins, unfolds and ends in a massive, new media polylogue, specifically, a YouTube polylogue. Extant research has looked into how conflict begins, unfolds and/or ends. However, to our knowledge, the models and taxonomies developed so far have not been applied to the analysis of the mediated conflict of massive polylogues. Drawing on the difference between methods of analysis that are natively digital versus those that have been digitized, i.e., they were developed for off-line research and then migrated on-line, one of the goals of this paper is to test whether non-natively digital, extant models and taxonomies, if digitized, would …

Regional Security Cooperation and the SADC’s Organ for Politics, Defence and Security: A Picture of Mixed Performance
2017
This chapter provides a profound analysis of regional security cooperation in the SADC and focusses on the institutionalisation and performance of the organisation’s central conflict management institution, the Organ for Politics, Defence and Security (OPDS). By clarifying the regional security complex in every detail, Muntschick highlights the countries’ common demand for institutionalised regional security cooperation and reflects on the conflicting interstate interests on the institutional design of the SADC’s central security organ. External actors play no significant role, but a lack of compromise between the leading military powers, South Africa and Zimbabwe, is initially responsible …
The Positive Spiral Between Problem-Solving Management and Trust: A Study in Organizations for Individuals With Intellectual Disability
2021
To achieve their goals, organizations for individuals with intellectual disability have to stimulate high-quality relationships between professionals and family members. Therefore, achieving professionals’ trust in family members has become a challenge. One relevant factor in explaining professional’s trust in families is the degree to which family members use the “problem-solving” conflict management strategy (high concern for oneself but also for the other party) in their disputes–disagreements with professionals. It is reasonable to argue that when family members use problem-solving conflict management, professionals’ trust increases. Professionals’ trust, in turn, stimulates the use of …

Työntekijöiden havaintoihin pohjaten tutkielma pyrki kasvattamaan ymmärrystä työelämässä ja teknologiavälitteisessä vuorovaikutuksessa ilmenevistä konflikteista etsimällä vastauksia siihen, millaisia syitä, seurauksia ja lopputuloksia konflikteilla on työyhteisöjen teknologiavälitteisessä vuorovaikutuksessa.
